JimiIoT Designated as Location Network Data Center for BeiDou

2019-02-27

We are proud to share that JimiLab, a subsidiary of JimiIoT, has been officially selected as a Location Network Data Center within the BeiDou Satellite Foundation Reinforcement System. This recognition underscores JimiIoT’s pivotal role in advancing China’s satellite navigation capabilities and developing high-precision positioning technologies. On June 21, 2017, JimiLab achieved a major milestone by becoming the first company to launch a Sub-Meter-Level positioning terminal, capable of delivering real-time meter, decimeter, centimeter, and even post-processing millimeter-level precision location services.

This achievement places JimiIoT at the forefront of high-accuracy location technology, empowering industries such as logistics, smart transportation, and infrastructure management. With the ongoing rollout of the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS), such developments are critical to enhancing the overall service capability and reliability of satellite-based navigation in China and beyond.

Notably, Sun Jiadong—often regarded as the Father of China’s Guided Missile & Satellite Technology and Chief Designer for China’s Lunar Exploration Program—has expressed his support for emerging technologies like JimiIoT’s. “We must focus our efforts on Beidou Big Data collection and high-precision location services,” he said. He Xiaoming, president of the conference that recognized JimiIoT, also encouraged the company to keep promoting BeiDou satellite innovation, emphasizing its national economic benefits and positive impact on public life.

The BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) is a significant strategic project developed by China. Initially launched in 2000 as a test system, BeiDou has evolved into a full-scale global navigation framework. By the end of 2012, China had successfully launched 14 satellites to form the regional BeiDou system, offering continuous coverage across the Asia-Pacific region.

The ambitious plan for global coverage accelerated in 2018, with 18 additional satellite launches designed to achieve baseline global service. Mathematically, this allows any point on Earth to access four satellites simultaneously, though real-world conditions require at least 24 satellites for complete redundancy—matching the capabilities of GPS.

By 2020, the BeiDou-3 system was completed with 35 satellites, providing full global coverage. JimiIoT continues to contribute to this national effort by offering hardware and services that support BDS-enabled applications, ensuring positioning accuracy, strong anti-interference performance, and scalable system capacity.

With this designation as a Location Network Data Center, JimiIoT remains committed to driving innovation in the IoT space, supporting BeiDou’s mission, and delivering transformative value across industries worldwide.
